Boat trip with "A Bay to Remember Boat Trips"

Southern Coastal Path from Poppit Sands

Southern Coastal Path beautiful views!

As promised it is time to chat about mine and Ant’s trip to Wales! So, we drove down to YHA Poppit Sands (Youth Hostel) from Cheshire loaded up with a car full of walking gear and goodies from Aldi. One of the good things about hostelling is that you can cook your own food. When I go on holiday and have tea out and about, I often tend to eat everything, way more than I actually need to. Where a treat meal is good, three of them in a row probably isn’t. The main thing about staying in a hostel with a kitchen was that it saved us a lot of pennies and with recently moving into a new house, that was very helpful indeed.

We could also create packed lunches and prepare snacks to take on our long walks of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. We could have walked much further than we did BUT we were on holiday and we needed to chill a little bit as well. Heading down the path southwards from Poppit Sands gave us some amazing views, the path skirting right along the edge of the cliffs, a perfect point to look out for dolphins and seals. To be honest I did think one of us might fall off and die when we ran away from an area of particularly nasty flies but it was all good fun. We saw lots of different wildlife as well, where I appreciate it isn’t quite as exciting as seeing a tiger and giraffe, we saw a fox, lots of lizards (yes, lizards in Wales), different beetles and bugs and lots of different birds.

We went on a boat trip to try and find some dolphins and seals because they are quite common off the Pembrokeshire coast. We didn’t see any. But the trip was still fun, I do really love being on boats which probably helped a lot but the views of the coast from the sea were amazing too. The boat went past the headland of Mwnt where we had been the previous day. Mwnt is a really beautiful spot with a gorgeous beach and view point. I would recommend visiting it if you are ever in the Pembrokeshire.

One thing to be said about the area is that the phone signal is poor and the internet on your phone? Practically non-existent, for Vodafone that is anyway. Our hostel didn’t have Wifi either. This was probably one of the best parts of the whole trip. Where I do apologise to my close friends who thought that I had died because they hadn’t heard anything from me for four days, it was just so refreshing to not have to talk to anyone far away. No notifications, no social media, no hassle. I could just enjoy my surroundings and fully relax.

Em x

p.s. A big shout out to YHA Poppit Sands – would fully recommend staying there if you are wanting to visit Pembrokeshire.

Wolf Whistling : why we need to start calling out the cat callers

Wolf whistling. Fairly common place but increasingly people are beginning to take more notice of it and challenge it. It seems that this is a fairly controversial issue to discuss but what I'm trying to understand is why is it so controversial? Is it controversial because it offends the offenders? Isn’t that highly ironic? Some do perceive cat calling as complimentary but I would argue that this is the minority and that in reality, given the choice, women would probably rather be complimented during a conversation, not in an intimidating and lairy fashion. One of my friends told me that it massively depends on what mood she’s in, sometimes a whistle boosts her self-confidence, but other days makes her feel anxious. I know that she would much rather be complimented during a genuine conversation. After putting it out there and asking people for their experiences I had a lot of feedback and some interesting points came up. One of my friends told me that she regularly gets whistled a

Leeds Sports Awards 2018

With Leeds Rhinos ladies Charlotte Booth and Lois Forsell Hannah Cockcroft MBE Sam Smith Izzy Palmer  The Leeds Girls Can Ambassadors were very lucky and grateful to be invited to the Leeds Sports Awards 2018. It was a rare occasion in more than one way, we swapped our trainers for heels, the only problem was that we hardly recognised each other in all our finery away from a muddy park or sweaty spin studio. Held at the First Direct Arena, this was a highly prestigious event, just to give you a sense of the scale of the awards, it was sponsored by Leeds Bid, Banana Kick, The University of Leeds, ImageCo, Blacks Solicitors, First Direct Bank, Leeds Bradford Airport, Sport Leeds, Yorkshire Sport Foundation, Resource, SWPix, Leeds Sports Federation, Leeds City Council and the Yorkshire Evening Post. Quite a mouthful. It was a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of all sorts of people involved in sports in Leeds, with young, senior and special contributions awards, it was an ex
